JOB SUMMARY
Introductory position which requires assisting a more senior technician and accepting training to become a technician. Computer and math skills are required as well as technical learning aptitude. Ex-military personnel are welcome. Willingness to travel and/or re-locate is a plus.

Job Title: NDT Technician
Department: Operations

JOB SUMMARY
Provide field and/or shop work in the following Non-destructive Testing techniques: (MT) Magnetic Particle (PT) Dye Penetrant (UT) Ultrasonic (thickness)
NDE Technician level II must be able to be dispatched on most of the job applications commonly requested. Has received appropriate training in the use and maintenance of the appropriate inspection technology equipment. The individual must have technical skills for inspection support for ultrasonic testing/Magnetic, Particle testing; Penetrant testing. Individual holds training, experience and level 2 certification in NDE applications: ultrasonic (corrosion & thickness only) MT and PT. Must demonstrate capabilities on performing actual job with no assistance. Must be willing to take additional training.
Must have acquired the majority of the following qualifications:
CONV Level II UT – Corrosion, Thickness, Ultrasonic Shearwave, Magnetic particle, Penetrant Testing
Level II UT, TOFD, Phased Array, Shearwave, B-scan, C-Scan
Level II ET-ACFM/ Level II UT- Corrosion
Level I/ Assistant, Ground Penetrating Radar
Penetrating Radar
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Set-up and calibrate equipment,
Conduct tests with appropriate NDT Technique
Interpret, evaluate, and document results.
Must be familiar with the scope and limitations of the method in which certified
Capable of directing the work of trainees and all Levels.
Must be familiar with the codes, standards and other contractual documents controlled & method as utilized by the employer.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
Assist technicians in set-up/tear-down of equipment; perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks, calibrations and overall equipment and facilities upkeep.
Perform part cleaning using powered brushes, grinder or hand tools. Clean up job site and part inspected as required.
Identifying open ended lines or valves
Tag maintenance and/or replacement
Identifies circumstances that necessitate the use of proper safety procedures and equipment.
Work in conjunction with Inspection Department in the inspection of piping.
Weekly update to Site Manager of all issues
Provide input on findings in a timely manner.
Make walk downs as needed.
Completion of API 570 checklist and sketching.
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
High School graduate or equivalent, 1 year experience prior Certification as a NDT Level I technician Magnetic Particle, Penetrant, Ultrasonic.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical and visual activities commonly associated with the performance of the functions on this job include: standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, stepping, crawling, reaching, twisting, bending, handling, and laying on back. Must be able to support own weight in roped safety harness. A typical work week is 40-60 hours and in some cases even as long as 84 hours. Drive a company vehicle to and from all job sites as well as on the job site.
WORK CONDITIONS
The job may be subject to all weather conditions; inside and outside environments, volatile industry situations (petrochemical, oil refinery, pulp and paper mill); confined spaces; and heights.
* PPE and Confined Space training and safety equipment will be provided to all technicians to insure a safe working environment at all times.
